Though it seems like yesterday, its been about a year now since I left Airtel to concentrate on my studies and the Internet. I always loved working there and had great confidence and pride that we were the best in the market.
No offense to Tata, VSNL and BSNL/Asianet (that is, if they can be called competition
), but Airtel has simply time and again proved their best with great products and customer service.
This time, they came out with a Rs. 750/- broadband unlimited(256kbps) with 50 local call pulses! I was using the unlimited 64kbps plan with about Rs. 399 month and changed it to the new plan. I did search unsuccessfully if anyone else has a comparable offer to this.
Yay Airtel!

This is my follow up post to my Free Airtel Recharge Hacks which has been very successful in bringing in some search traffic due to some unknown reason. Since it was nothing but a stupid joke which I got from a friend, I thought of bringing in some value to that post.
Airtel has been a very successful company in the Telecom Industry in India, providing innovative services and other value addition to the customer. Also Airtel is a hot topic in most Indian forums, due to its easter eggs. You never know what you will stumble into when you dive in.

We have launched our 2mbps plans like BSNL, or better.
There are some powerpoint presentations circling the net right now. But the question almost everywhere is why doesn’t Airtel promote them? Print them, and market them? Is the plans not good enough to compete in the market? Is the promised speeds not delivered? These are some of the questions I will try to cover through this post.
What are the current 2 Mbps plans?
Here are the plans in short:

I had written earlier that I was going to quit my day job at Airtel in Cochin and start concentrating on my studies and my online activities. But due to some reason or the other, for the better or the worse I am still with Airtel Broadband and Telephone Services.
I work in the retention team here in Cochin. My job? Bring back customers who are leaving us. That’s my job profile in one line. Customer retention is a major concern for every telecom operator all over the global village. Recently Economic Times published statistics that says that 1/4th of the customer base moves between the operators in a year! Most companies have realised or are in the process of realising that a customer retained is better than two customers acquired.

A little hack found on the forums on about how to access the net from a pc using a mobile with Airtel prepaid card. Enjoy!
Raw Materials: PC/Laptop and necessary connectivity tools ,ie.,
Serial/USB cable OR Infrared Device OR Bluetooth dongle to connect the mobile to the computer.
1) Activate Airtel Live! ( It’s FREE so no probs)
2)Create TWO Airtel GPRS data accounts (yep TWO) and select the
FIRST as the active profile.
3) Connect your mobile to the PC (or Laptop) and install the driver for
your mobile’s modem.

Enjoy Airtel Broadband now with unlimited download limits and speeds more than 512kbps.
And I mean FREE as in “Freedom”.
The other day while aimlessly surfing the web, I came across a forum which discussed about Airtel Broadband Services. It contained a topic by a user in which he asks
i know that the login name is my phone number itself… but is my adsl link really identified as my number?
suppose…. i’ve been using a lot of NCR high speed accounts lately….
but have never heard from airtel… can they really trace me..

5.2 lakhs or half a million is the number of SMSes sent by a Indian on his quest to enter into the Guinness Books. Sounds crazy? It sure did to me! That is some way to spend a whole month. The guy – Deepak Sharma. The Operator – Airtel. The Phone – Nokia 6600. It seems that the Telecom company initially refused to send him a detailed bill as it overloaded their printers and the computer could not process the data. It sure should have been a problem as when the bill reached him, it weighed 12.5 kg and contained almost 1411pages! But the bill was not that heavy on his pocket as he had used the Rs. 99 SMS unlimited pack. With this bill as evidence, he is sure to get into the Books of World Record. If you know friends who send txt messages a lot and boasts about the numbers they send each month, be sure to tell ‘em about this SMS King Kong!

Few days ago, I was kind of disappointed when I found that Orkut is not accessible on my mobile phone. The problem is the same with rediffmail too. They use javascript which the Opera Mobile and the built-in browsers are not able to decipher. Recently, I found this link which allows you to access your favourite social community – Orkut through your cellphone using GPRS.
Here’s the link:
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginBox?service=orkut&nui=2&uilel=1&skipvpage=true&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.orkut.com%2FRedirLogin.aspx%3Fmsg%3D0%26page%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.orkut.com%252F&followup=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.orkut.com%2FGLogin.aspx
The link is pretty long. Things are easier of you to click the tiny url for the above link. Remember to bookmark this page once it loads up.
